Learning The best way is to learn from another knitter, however there are books that will teach you the basics. We sell learn to knit books and kits on our website. On-line knitting forums can then be a superb source of help. There are also many useful free video links on the internet where you can watch demonstrations of different casting on techniques, knitting stitches, how to knit with specialist yarns, etc. As with all craft activities practice is the key. |

Colours The colours of yarns shown on our website are for guidance only. They should be viewed along with the descriptive colour names given for each shade. We do our best to ensure that our images are accurate reproductions of our yarns. The settings of your monitor (brightness, contrast, colour settings) will influence the way the images appear on your screen. If the exact shade of the yarn is important, we recommend you buy a shade card so that you can examine a sample of the yarn before you order. We will happily refund the value of unused yarns returned to us if you are not happy with the colour, but we regret that we CANNOT refund the postage charges (unless we have made a packing error). ALWAYS order sufficient yarn to complete a project as there can be colour variation between dye lots/batches. If you do require a particular batch/lot when ordering yarn please type the number required into the information box during the checkout procedure. If that lot is available we will send it, otherwise a different batch will be supplied for you to examine for suitability. |

Tension Most patterns will advise you to knit a tension square, stating the number of rows and stitches you should knit in stocking stitch, to produce a 10cm or 4" square. If you look for a yarn that matches the tension on your pattern then you know the garment should come out the correct size and shape. It is always best to knit a tension square in the yarn you intend to work with before starting any project. If your knitted square comes out too large, try repeating the tension square with needles half a size smaller, or increase your needle size if you knit tight and your tension square is too small. |

Washing Always read the ball band of your yarn as it often provides washing and drying instructions. In general pure wool should be washed gently by hand, in lukewarm water, using a delicates or woollens hand washing power/liquid. It should be rinsed in water of a similar temperature with NO fabric softener and gently squeezed dry. Laying the knitted item flat on a large towel, then gently rolling it up, can take out a lot of extra water. Woollen knitted items should be dried flat, out of direct sunlight. Hot water, significant changes in water temperature, rough handling and leaving to stand in water will make pure wool fabric felt. Only machine washing if the yarn states it is machine washable. If in doubt test a sample of knitting first. |
|
Returns You can return any unused goods for exchange or refund up to 2 weeks from the delivery date. They must be in the condition we supplied them, e.g. the yarn must have ball bands and knitting needles should be in original packaging. |
